The
tropical rain forest consists on less than 6 % of the surface of earth and
according to the scientists at least half of the animal species of this world
live in it. There are million of animal species living in rain forest including
mammals, reptiles, insects, birds and amphibians. Well! The scientists are not
able to count all species in rainforest. They discovered a lot of new
rainforest species and most of them are insects. So it is very difficult to
answer that what animals live in the rainforest and science will need many decades
to answer it completely. Science already knows a lot of rainforest animals,
birds and insects. The rainforest in world contain dense, dark and tall trees
near the equator of earth that receive more than 50 inches of rain every year.
Tropical rain forests are present in northern half of South America, Central
America, Equatorial Africa and from Southern Asia across the South Pacific
islands to the northern area of Australia.
Animals
live in different rain forests from all over the world evolved thousand of
miles with each other. Hence they vary from one continent to another and from
one forest to another forest. All rainforest habitats and species are quite
similar with each other living in different forests. They are alike in many
ways even after living far away from each others. For example, all boast
breathtaking bird species and bird species in many tropical rainforests have
parrots. Parrots are number of bird species of huge macaws in South American
forests and many Central America forest while the African rainforests are
permanent home of these parrots including African grey which is very popular
due to its beautiful mimic sounds including the human speech. South Pacific
Island, Asian and Australian rainforests are home for cockatiels and cockatoos.
What animals live in the rainforest? Usually there is two of big cat or species
that lives by capturing and eating the other animals in forest. In tropical
Central and South America rainforests, ecological niche is covered with the
cougar and the jaguar. African rainforests are occupied by the leopards. Southern
Asian rainforests are ruled by the leopards as well as tigers. Poisonous snakes
present in all tropical rain forest, coral snakes and bushmasters lives in
Central America and Central America rainforests. Cobra snakes live in both Asia
and Africa rainforest. Many tropical rainforests are home for number of primate
species from myriad monkeys of South America such as howler monkeys and spider
monkeys to monkeys and apes of Africa including gorillas, bonobos and
chimpanzees to monkeys and great apes of South Asia.
